"I'm still floating on air, and I can't thank you enough for your participation in our wedding. Your 'words' made everything feel just so right, so heartfelt, so candid and special-to everyone present. Like I told you at the start of that morning, you are a most beautiful soul and I feel absolutely privileged for having met you. I plan on staying in-touch, and I'd recommend you to any couple in a heartbeat." Marianne, from Yonkers, NY

Are you are engaged to be married, ready to share your life and your dreams with your true companion in a relationship of Heart and Soul? Are you ready to re-commit your true love and re-new your vows? If you are, Congratulations!

Simple or elaborate, your marriage ceremony is the heart of your wedding – a romantic, timeless moment! You want it to reflect your personality, heart & soul; to strengthen your connection, expand your love & support your relationship.

It will be my honor to celebrate you on this special day…
To collaborate with you in creating
The wedding of your dreams…
Elopements or grand affairs,
Ocean views or mountain tops;
From the traditional to the unique,
Your relationship – a vision of hope created by love.
A ritual of life where beloveds unite with promises to keep.
Your wedding – a lovers dream come true.
Your ceremony – a joy to offer from my heart and soul to yours.
Because it matters!

I’m Reverend Janice Arlene Rost, an ordained, licensed and skilled Interfaith Minister/Wedding Officiant. It would be my joy to serve as celebrant for this most memorable day. I’m here to support your vision as an Experienced, Inter/Multifaith Celebrant offering Beautiful, Meaningful, Personalized Ceremonies Joyously Presented with Elegance, Warmth & Spirit. My Ministry is Inclusive – Spiritual, Faith, Humanistic, Civil, Same Sex; it Incorporates the Traditional Tailored for Today, and for You.

I can travel to your venue or I can accommodate small groups at my Briarcliff Manor location, indoors or out by the lake with flowing fountain!

Most couples I serve have little or no religious affiliation…
They are interfaith, intercultural, humanistic; some describe themselves as spiritual, some are not, and some haven’t decided. Some couples cannot marry in their house of worship, or choose not to. Some want their ceremony short and sweet, some want more with readings and traditions. Some are more expressively romantic, others more reserved. Some couples find me searching the web, some from wedding venues and many have simply been referred to me…by people who know me, some of whom I have served in some way, or by their guests, or by colleagues and wedding professionals.

The couples who select me as their Officiant & Celebrant usually have one thing in common… they want their ceremony to express and strengthen their love and commitment to one another, on the day of their wedding, and for many years to come. And, they always love their ceremony!

For your uniting in love, as your ceremonial artist I will create with you, a beautiful, meaningful, romantic and personal ceremony…
You may be the “short and get-it-over with, just make it legal” person or the “flourishes and ritual” fancier, you may know what you want, or not have a clue. Your circumstances will vary – length of time together, number of marriages, already married and renewing your vows, children and blended families, living together or in different locations, etc. Please be assured, your ceremony will express the heart and soul of your current and future relationship.

You may wish to include within the ceremony rituals that address specific circumstances. For example, candles, wine, and flowers can be symbolically used with the couple or with family members to express unity. Especially for “blended families,” recognizing and involving children in the ceremony is a strengthening, and sometimes healing, experience.

You may wish to express a variation of a cultural or religious tradition or ritual within the ceremony. I enjoy these sometimes challenging opportunities take one or more tradition, make it meaningful and accessible. From Japanese sake and German beer, to Mexican lassos and hand fasting, to smudge and sand and Namaste, your story and journey of how you came to this day – I’ll creatively honor your personal expression.

Using the words you choose, selected from my vast reference library, I weave your message of love and commitment into a beautiful, tasteful ceremony with meaningful words and promises – one that reflects who you are as individuals, and as a couple – a ceremony that gathers your family and friends into a circle of love, a community of witnesses who will support and may even emulate your vows.
In addition to receiving compliments on your ceremony and its presentation, you will draw strength from knowing that you’ve heard and spoken words expressing what you aspire to live by.

“…We have the ceremony, and we love it. Thank you for taking the time to work through all of that with us. Your patience and support made that process possible.” Peggy and Neil, Brooklyn, NY

Wedding Services include…

* Officiating your ceremony
* Complimentary interview and Pre-marital session
* Ceremony options and preparation
* Post wedding session option
* Help with venue selection and professional referrals
* Coordination with professionals involved with your ceremony
* Travel to your wedding site (one hour)
* Assistance with marriage license formalities
* Keepsake ceremony
* Stress reduction and mystery removal regarding the time before, during and after the ceremony
* Credentials and Invaluable Talent and Experience!

Ceremony Options and Preparation:

“Ready to Wear”…Based on what I’ve learned about you, I’ll offer ceremonies from which you choose the one that suits you as is. You will have many appropriate choices that can be “tweaked” to make it fit right. This may be useful if very close to ceremony date, or if you are on a tight budget.

“In Office Composite”…This package gives you the ability to make choices and leave the rest to me. Based on what I’ve learned about you, I’ll show you ceremonies from which you can create your own. You’ll choose what you like and, with my guidance, come up with a ceremony outline. After I’ve put it together, we’ll have a conference call to review and “rehearse.”

“Homemade Personalized Composite”…This popular option allows you to personalize a
ceremony in your own space and time with many reference options from my extensive collection. Couples often experience creating their ceremony together as a special time where they learn more about themselves and each other as they discuss their preferences and philosophies on love, partnership, and family.

Based on what I’ve learned about you from our session, I’ll show you material from which you can create a ceremony draft. The readings, blessings, and rituals, I suggest result from my getting to know you and your preferences, and my experience. I have various styles of expression for candles, wine, flowers,
children, designed to reflect your unique relationship and families.

You choose several you like and I’ll e-mail these and other documents containing readings, vows, etc. to broaden your choices. You will also receive a document to guide you in creating your “draft.” In the comfort of your home, you can review, discuss and select what you want in your ceremony. When
satisfied, you will send me your draft.

I’ll then enter into my process of editing and enhancing. Next we schedule a telephone conference. The first part is for review and feedback; we collaborate until we’re satisfied. Then we have a “rehearsal” – what to expect before, during and after the ceremony. My aim is to unveil the unknowns and offer suggestions that will help you feel as comfortable as possible.

Your finished ceremony will be an artistic blend of your input and mine. I will make my final edits and mail you a copy of your ceremony. You can get familiar with it and hopefully, live out its essence!

“Customized Composite” (Self-Created, New Words, Ideas, Rituals)…I love to create and write
meaningful rituals and will do so with words, etc. that express your personal needs and are comfortable for me as your minister…

You’ve put together an outline you’re basically happy with and you want to make sure it’s as beautiful and meaningful as it can be. I’ll read your submission and make suggestions for enhancing it. The three of us will collaborate until we are satisfied. If you introduce new material, ideas, etc. I’ll capture the essence of your thought and weave words and/or ritual, to express it. Using my ability to transform concepts, I’ll keep in mind the big picture while working with the important details (flow, logistics, etc.)

Whichever option you choose to create your ceremony, you will have a ceremony that expresses your love, supports your relationship, and fulfills your dreams.

Reiki as Complementary Medicine…

Reiki is universal or spiritually guided life force energy used in healing the mind, body and spirit. It is a natural, alternative complementary healing modality compatible with western medicine and other forms of complementary healing. No matter where the person may be at a certain point in their life, Reiki will balance and harmonize energy within and around the recipient and the facilitator of healing. Reiki opens the heart, expands our love consciousness and advances our evolvement. Reiki is a natural, non-invasive, soft touch hands-on-technique that is thousands of years old. In Japanese, “Rei” means Divine Intelligence, “Ki” is life force energy, that which animates all living creations. The Reiki Ray is an extremely powerful healing energy. and is one of the few forms of healing that can be used to heal oneself. The energy is also effective for healing and stress reduction for pets as well as people.

Reiki is usually a hands-on-healing modality, which means that the giver’s hands rest on the recipient’s fully clothed body. Locations used are along the chacras and areas where unbalance is detected. Since it also works in surrounding energy fields, it is not necessary to lay hands directly on the body for it to be effective.

The Reiki technique balances the physical organs and glands controlling the functions of the body and its emotions. The applied use of Reiki can calm, heal and enliven both the giver and the recipient. It has been reported to release emotional and mental stress and toxins, reduce or eliminate pain, chronic and acute physical problems and maintain health. It can enhance spirituality, peace, balance, and create a general sense of well being. I’m aware of living in this beautiful energy since my first initiation in 1987, although I suspect it’s been with me all along!

My MindBodySpirit Tapestry(c) technique is often a combination of the complementary modalities Reiki-Plus, Cranio-Sacral, Acupressure, Massage, Imagery, Dialog, Hypnotherapy and Breathwork.

Ticket to Thrive Counsel & Therapy

“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.” Elizabeth Gilbert

We live, go through natural cycles and change. Relationships are like living breathing organisms in that they also evolve. Couples work offers an opportunity to explore and experience one another anew; to more clearly see and hear your partner. It’s a time when distractions are suspended and space for genuineness is opened, allowing each of you to witness and be seen in your authentic self. It is a time to make space for growth in ways you may never have imagined.

I work with people in relationship with each other – friends, co-workers, siblings, as well as couples – in all stages of relationship. We may be basically satisfied with our relationship yet know there are concerns that need addressing so they don’t continue or grow into relationship killers like resentment an contempt. We may have a sense that there is something within that gets triggered by, yet not directly related to our partner. We may feel the need for deeper physical, emotional or spiritual connection and don’t know how to get it. Or one day, we may wonder “Who am I?” or look at our partner and wonder “Who are you?”

Any of these situations may be the point in the relationship when we realize there are choices to be made. Do we call it quits, live together bored or miserable, or start working towards the next stage in our lives individually and together in the relationship. It’s easier when we keep in mind that we are all capable of increasing our power and skills of loving, and, that healing it is a process. One of my wise teachers told me that when your relationship feels like a hopeless mess, it’s more likely that “there’s a swamp in your relationship, and not that your relationship is a swamp!”

Quantum physics informs us that we’re all in relationship with everyone and thing in our lives! Our relationship with everyone and everything is a vital part of our interconnected life. I believe learning and evolving is our purpose for being in all our relationships – as individuals, and as couples. As you may have experienced, the most challenging are with those we love! This is because “Love brings up anything unlike itself for the purpose of healing and release.” We serve as mirrors for each other, so we can see ourselves for our self-study. Therefore it’s harder to hide from our issues when we are in an intimate relationship. This may seem like the downside of love, yet the challenges that come up are really opportunities for growth and greater intimacy.

There is practical foundational work we can do in addition to dealing with symptomatic issues. We all can learn more about healthy communication as a key to resolving conflicts and in opening the space for greater intimacy, trust, and joy in a relationship. It sounds easy and appealing in the self-help books, and they can offer new and supportive information. However, “Active Listening” and other communication abilities are learned skills, ones that may not come naturally and may feel contrived and awkward in the beginning. They are most successful with “in the moment” coaching, and then practiced in all your relationships. It takes training, intention, commitment and lots of good will. And with this foundation, we can grow deeper in intimacy as we experience the power of intentional love in a relationship that evolves and thrives. Let’s stress less, heal and thrive together!

“Love is an intention.
It is not just something that happens,
that you fall into.
It is something that you choose to do
because it is the way of truth
and it is the way of life.”
Jerry Jud

“The reality of life is that your perceptions — right or wrong — influence everything else you do. When you get a proper perspective of your perceptions, you may be surprised how many other things fall into place.”~ Roger Birkman

In practice for many years supporting individuals and relationships along life’s journey, I’m experienced in addressing most concerns and situations regarding the mind, body, emotions, and spirit. I’ve helped many people, mostly young to older adults, to significantly improve the quality of their lives by gaining clarity, breaking through blocks, and achieving a sense of well-being. I see a diverse population of clients seeking support with issues including mental, physical, or spiritual health challenges from life-threatening illness to employment change, from the trauma of divorce to the joy of uniting, to managing a stressful life, feeling stuck, and getting their creative juices flowing.

One thing that people all over the world have in common is the desire to be happy. This inner desire we share is a motivating life force, sometimes buried, yet able to be recharged and resurrected. Therapy sessions can offer new perspectives that open your receptivity to the idea that we often have choices than we think. For example, we can replace the thought of “That’s impossible!” with “it’s possible!” which opens us to hope. Woody Guthrie said “We are all hoping machines.” I agree. Please be clear this is not about “magical thinking”; it is about reframing and replacing thoughts and actions that no longer serve us, with those that do. We still have to keep taking the steps leading to our goals and desires, yet we may now be able to make better choices that avoid blocks to success.

My practice covers mental/emotional/behavioral issues such as – anxiety, bereavement, mood fluctuations, depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, abuse, transition adjustment, identity/gender concerns, addictive patterns. Also challenges of physical illness or injury, and food related issues; spiritual and philosophical questions relating to the “Who am I; where am I going?’ stages of life.

Your therapeutic process can be short or long term; sessions can include life and wellness coaching as well as in-depth process to meet your goals. My work with individuals and couples is progressive and powerful; my approach is active and process-oriented; personalized and creative, eclectic, heart-centered, intuitive, occasionally humorous, and collaborative. I provide a non-judgmental, comfortable setting where you are seen as an individual and heard as a unique being on your own journey, with strengths, gifts and vulnerabilities; capable of learning, healing and growth. I’ll support you with empathy, insight and new possibilities as you gain insights about your own thoughts and behaviors – both those that work for you and those that are counterproductive. Using this as a roadmap, we can clear obstacles and utilize strengths along the path to your destination. I’ll help you clarify your issues so you can manage them more effectively or resolve them. Together, we’ll build a healthy foundation open to possibilities with good will, self-care, awareness, compassion and acceptance. From these supportive roots, you can expect increased esteem, confidence, communication and connection skills, as well as peace and harmony with yourself and others.

I offer complementary medicine modalities including energy balancing, cranio-sacral, breathwork, hypnotherapy, imagery, stress release etc.; techniques that can progress you more effectively than with dialog alone. In session, we’ll look at what works, as well as what does not help you achieve the life you want. Effective counseling is a two way street. It takes a cooperative effort by both the person receiving counseling and the counselor. It is most effective when taking new insights and applying them in your life. To this end, I often give “lifework” to support you between sessions. In “real” life relationships and situations, you have an opportunity to expand your selection of responses and ground what you’ve learned. Whatever the result, you can choose to feel empowered by your efforts.

Verbal Therapy/Dialog Sessions for psychotherapy and psycho-spiritual therapy are where we begin. I’ll listen to your background history, your goals for therapy and your personal story. We’ll discuss options for a plan to meet your goals. We can continue in this modality as long as you want.

Body Centered Sessions are where you can expect goals and healing to progress faster than talk therapy alone. This is because when we talk (“stay in our heads”), it’s easy to be disconnected from our bodies where our “truth” and emotions reside and where intuition is accessed. When we talk we can easily rationalize, manipulate, judge, etc and respond from unhealthy old patterns which do not serve ourselves or others very well – you’ve probably heard “When you keep doing the same thing, you keep getting the same results.” Responding from this automatic mindset, we are blocked from the reality of ‘now’ and cannot access our truth and stay open to choices offering new possibilities.

My MindBodySpirit Tapestry© techniques balance energy within and around with dialogue, sound, image, metaphor, emotive release, and sometimes therapeutic touch. Hands-on-Healing can include Reiki, CranioSacral, Acupressure; Breathwork or Hypnotherapy does not involve touch.

All of us have the possibility of changing our perceptions and making new choices to experience life more fully alive; it’s easier with the guidance of an experienced caring professional. I’ve been holistic practitioner for 25 years and attentive to my own journey for much longer. If you are reaching out, stuck or uncertain of your next step, please call for a complementary phone consultation now! Remember, any first step is a good one!

You’re at the entrance, the threshold of your dream.
Now is the time. You are ready.
The door is open
New life is inviting…

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Anais Nin

How do I choose my Officiant???
When I started this joy filled service of uniting couples in 1990, there was a small number of Interfaith or other ministers who would say yes to couples regardless of faith, non-faith, race, sex, etc. Now, there are many vendors in the wedding business. Freedom of choice is sacred and also can be confusing, making it difficult to know what/who you will get, especially when most couples have never hired a wedding vendor before, even for a second marriage!

Some couples only care about the paper to make it official or only about the party afterwards; if so, that makes your choice easier. You’ll hire someone who gets the job done with a few standard words. Many couples seek a wedding Officiant who will help them create their dream wedding which includes a ceremony that is personal, romantic, beautifully crafted and delivered. For a ceremony that does all this as it unites them in marriage, they will search out information and carefully select. With a variety of vendors to choose from, there’s a variety of service style, offerings, quality, personality, etc.

It takes more than a license to be considered a quality professional in any field. Here’s some information to consider about people who perform wedding ceremonies…

Officiants have different preparation, talent, motivation, and experience. Some have extensive training, many have superficial training and others may get a license for the day. (Do you know it’s possible to get licensed to officiate a marriage on the internet or by attending a weekend workshop focused other than officiating?)

Some of the qualities I look for in choosing a professional are: individuals and companies with integrity – that are experienced, personable, reliable and highly skilled in what they offer. To find a good match I like to talk to them and consider personality, style, inclusivity, ceremony choices and personalization, preparation, delivery, time for me, fee, etc.

Referrals can be helpful, and yet I still need to make an effort to see if they are right for me.

We can do our best to obtain information and use head, heart and intuition to make the best choice. Since you don’t have the comparison experience as you do with many other purchases in you life, and since you really won’t be able to fully judge until after the ceremony, this selection process can be daunting. However, please be reassured to know that with almost professional Officiant you choose, you will probably be satisfied with what you get. And you’ll be married!

Why Choose Rev. Janice?
What you get is quality service and reasonable rates! My distinctive process of ceremony creation offers you a superior selection of meaningful appropriate reference, giving you a variety of choices for the entire ceremony, and therefore, more personalization. In addition, you and your fiancé get invaluable experience, support and quality time together, discovering what matters most to your heart and soul.
Since you’ve been drawn to my site and taken the time to read this far before you choose an Officiant, I believe you really do care about the ceremony that unites you and your partner in marriage, and also about your celebrant. Here’s what I’d like you to know about me…
I am a professional and I really do care – about you and your wedding day.
And, I believe with you, that you can have your special day be joy filled and memorable!

I’ll give you my time and experience. With it, you’ll learn more than you imagined about yourself, your partner, and your relationship as well as about the before, during and after aspects of your wedding ceremony. I’ll give you friendly and professional high quality personal service, and a meaningful heartwarming ceremony crafted with attention to details. And, often overlooked yet vital, the ability to professionally and warmly present/officiate with joy, elegance and charisma, focusing on you, yet including everyone. I’ll keep the ordinary fresh and alive, as well as creatively and appropriately handle the unexpected with grace and humor. I’ll be there for you if your choice is for an experienced, caring, and gifted celebrant!

What sets me apart, (and will be best experienced as we go through the process) is that I have the essential and the additional skills, training, experience and heart to be considered one of the finest…

I hope this has been helpful – may you make a good choice!

Ceremonial Services for All Life’s Cycles, Occasions and Transitions…
A ceremony or ritual marks an occasion as significant and grounds it so it becomes real and memorable. There are specific actions and objects, real and symbolic, which are meaningful towards intention of the ceremony. And, there’s that magical or spiritual component of a ceremony and the celebrant that instills within us acceptance of the change, the reality that we’ve taken a step across a threshold into a “new” you, in a new phase of life.

Attention to details in setting, words, symbols, logistics, etc are important components of a well crafted ceremony/ritual. Its purpose is to achieve its intention, transporting you in mind and spirit, to your goal, your vision. Connection and felt emotions are signs of a good ceremony; it stimulates emotions appropriate to the service, from happy to sad, and also creates a stronger connection among the participants and witnesses. I feel blessed to be a ceremonial artist gifted with all the skills and experience needed to make ceremony and ritual a meaningful, memorable event for you and your guests.

It’s my joy to create a simple or elaborate ceremony with and about You for your special day…
A tasteful blend of your vision with the classic and the contemporary,
Woven with spirit, Offered with love,
Touching all Hearts…

* Wedding, Commitment, Union, Vows Renewal: Spiritual, Faith, Civil…
* Blessing: Adult, Child, House, Land, Animal, Boat, Bike, Auto, etc
* Welcoming: Baptism, Christening, Naming, New “Family” Member
* Achievement: Graduation, Promotion
* Separation, Loss: Memorial, Divorce,
* Cycles of Age: Maturation, Life Style Change, Retirement…

I believe there’s an abundance of blessings in our ordinary lives. And, that we are each able to give blessings in our expressions of good will and gratitude for who and what we do have. The Ceremonies I offer are carefully constructed and spiritually infused with intention for the highest good of the recipient – Baby, Child, Adult, Pet, House, etc. Customized ceremonies are co-created with the same personal process as weddings. “Blessings for Baby” and Weddings “Ceremony Packages, Options & Preparation” can be reviewed for more detailed information about my ceremony process. Please read this information for an overview and/or contact me about any ceremony you’re considering; we can discuss the possibilities and you can hear a sampling of choices.

"…We have the ceremony, and we love it. The more elaborate questions and revised vows now include everything that we want to express on that day, and we couldn't be happier with the wording. Thank you for taking the time to work through all of that with us. Your patience and support made that process possible.” Peggy and Neil, Brooklyn, NY

Time spent meeting with your Officiant before the wedding is a valuable start to feeling good during your vows, and to co-create a ceremony just right for you. It is preferable, though not essential to my service to you. There are times when time is of the essence; we can accomplish the necessities for your ceremony in conversation.

Complimentary Interview…The interview really begins with a telephone conversation where we can have an easy, efficient exchange of information rather than a volley of e-notes. So, after you’ve looked over my site, contact me. The initial call may be sufficient and/or a conference call with both partners can be arranged. Voice to voice, you each have a chance to ask your own questions and hear directly from me. Any question is a good one; I know this is unknown territory for you and its fine if you don’t have a clue as to how this works. I do, and have information for you and suggestions if you want them. Important to ask is about my availability for your date, time and location; what I offer is on this site and can be explained further. Most couples are also interested in my fee. I’m not a “one size fits all” person, so when I know more about you and your wedding plans and needs, I can quote one. By the end of our conversation, we can let each other know if we sound like a good match. If so, we can schedule an appointment for a Pre-Nuptial session.

Pre-Nuptial Session Overview…During this session, couples learn more about themselves, their partner about Intentional Loving. They are grateful for our time together. There is no fee obligation for this session since almost all couples who have it decide they want me to officiate their ceremony. My time and expertise is valuable, and so, if you decide you do not want to hire me, a donation is appreciated. If you do hire me, a deposit of half the fee is expected (unless another arrangement is made).

The purpose of this time is to give you a chance to meet me face to face, and for us to get to know one another. I’m easy to talk to; even for someone who is quite shy. The length of our session depends on the package you will choose, and also how talkative you are!

In our relaxed, congenial session we establish our relationship and you will realize you’re with a supportive, creative and experienced relationship and ceremony counselor and Officiant. I’ll get to know you as individuals and as a couple, and you will get to know me. We will discuss your wedding, your relationship and the vision you have for your marriage. I’ll offer some helpful information about love and relationship. We’ll talk seriously and humorously, establishing a relationship that can continue as long as you want. The last part of the session will be devoted to your ceremony. Based on what I’ve learned about you, including any ideas you may have, I’ll show you resources from which you can create a ceremony that reflects your relationship and vision. If you are really curious about the ceremony reference, you can preview earlier in the session.

Assuming that we contract at this time, you’ll select the ceremony creation option you want. You will either compose your ceremony here or I will put your selections together with other reference and e-mail it to you. Please read the section on Ceremony Options for more details.

Location…My office, conveniently located in Briarcliff Manor, Westchester County New York, is easily accessible by car or train. A face-to-face meeting in my office with all reference material at hand, is ideal; however if necessary, another meeting place or a telephone conference can be arranged.

Pre-Nuptial Session Options

I invest in you and your relationship to help you nurture and enrich your commitment of heart and soul by offering support along the way to your wedding day and beyond. You can choose the amount of time we spend together with these options…

“The Basic” Pre-Nuptial Session…This session of about 2 hours generally allows for an exchange of basic “getting to know you” information, enough to start the ceremony creation process. This is usually chosen by couples who don’t think relationship enhancement is necessary at this point, and would rather focus on the ceremony. I will, however, include an overview of The Principals and Skills of Intentional Loving as a foundation for a thriving relationship. This unique and valued guide is always well received.

“I Love my Relationship!” Pre-Nuptial Session…For the couple who wants to gift themselves with deeper together time, this longer session focuses on relationship and partnered life. This couple realizes there is more to learn and want to enhance their relationship, and/or have an issue to work on and want a fresh perspective from a qualified professional. In this session, in addition to the basic ‘get to know you’ questions, there are other interesting exploratory questions, resource materials, and an depth explanation of The Principals and Skills of Intentional Loving. We end with an experiential exercise using these skills, after which couples feel closer, more connected heart and soul. Then, in this loving space, you will begin the ceremony creation process. The session is about 3½ hours; it’s light and moves more quickly than it may sound…
As a Bonus Incentive – this package comes with an optional, complimentary session anytime before or after the wedding.

Post Wedding Sessions

I’m available for Relationship Enrichment counsel before and after your wedding. Believing that bumps in the road can be a catalyst for growth, and even become a reason for celebration, I offer gently effective, supportive coaching/counseling before and anytime after your wedding. The session offers opportunity to share your experience, practice deep listening and connective response with your partner.

We are all capable of growing in our powers and skills of giving and receiving love.
And, as you know, even the most loving relationships have rough spots; how you respond in words and actions, at every moment, is your choice. You might ask…
Is my response it automatic or mindful?
Is it working for me, my beloved and our relationship?
Is there something I can do differently that will get us to win-win/a better space?

“…By the time Steve and I decided to get married, we had been a couple for 7 years. So, we just wanted to tie the knot so to speak, without the big production wedding that would delay our wedding date for yet another year. We set the date to be my late mother’s birthday, July 1st, which was only 3 or 4 weeks away. At first, I was ready to sign papers at the court house, but Steve wanted to have a little ceremony with his family and friends. That is when I thought of Reverend Rost, the inter-faith, non-denominational minister, who married my sister, Stefanie and Paul just 6 months before. I recalled their simple, yet elegant ceremony, and wanted ours to be that way, too. Steve and I contacted Rev. Rost, and explained to her our situation and the time constraints. Luckily for us, she agreed, and was willing to work with us even though she was already busy with other wedding ceremonies.

Rev. Rost invited us…to do the prenuptial marriage counseling. When asked if we wanted to do a 1 1/2 session or a 3 hour session, we decided on the latter because we wanted to get as much out of the therapy as possible. It turned out to be the right choice…The therapy session, I noticed that Rev. Rost had a very peaceful way about her. Although, I was a bit nervous with the wedding on my mind, she put me at ease with her calm, yet friendly nature. The whole therapy session lasted 4 1/2 hours, but we enjoyed it so much that we didn’t notice how long it was lasting. However, even at this time, Rev. Rost did not rush us out. Rather, she was very generous with her time and made it obvious that it was more important for her to know that we were satisfied with the therapy session. Steve and I are very grateful for this, because we both felt that we bonded in such a way that we had not experienced in all the years that we’ve known each other. The extended therapy session enabled us to become more emotionally ready for our marriage.

Steve and I feel that we made the right choice by having Rev. Rost as our minister in marriage…We are eternally grateful for Rev. Rost’s personal involvement, meticulous work, and most of all her wisdom and knowledge in creating a beautiful wedding ceremony. …I have already recommended Rev. Rost to a friend who is getting married next year…” Naomi and Steve, Brooklyn, NY

Got Questions?? Click here...

If your question is not covered onsite or needs further explanation or discussion, I'll be happy to have a personal conversation.with you!

Here are some commonly asked questions and answers about my services…

What are your fees? Realizing this economy has many of us trying to live with less to spend, my fees are
reasonable so I can say “yes” as often as possible! Since I offer personalized service, I’ll need to learn more about you in a conversation – your situation, needs, goals – and then discuss the fee.

Weddings and some other ceremonies have a range of fees. Your needs are variables that help determine the fee. I’ve created options to suit different preferences and budgets. The fee I quote is based on quality professional service and average amount of total service time for you.

When should we get started? In general, the answer is “ASAP”. If calling for Healing Arts, you probably need your support now. If for a ceremony, the longer a mount of time before your date is best. As your time gets busier closer to the date, you will be less stressed if you know you have booked your minister well in advance and that your ceremony is in progress or completed. As for me, I’ll have you scheduled and can arrange my time better to give you and your ceremony the attention needed. I take clients on short notice as often as I can, and it can be challenging to fit in more to do, so let’s stress-less and book early

What makes a ceremony great? A well crafted ceremony/ritual is attentive to details in setting, words, symbols, logistics, and is presented by an accomplished, charismatic celebrant. Its purpose is to achieve its intention, transporting you in mind and spirit, to your goal, your vision. Connection and felt emotions are signs of a good ceremony; it stimulates emotions appropriate to the service, from happy to sad, and also creates a stronger connection among the participants and witnesses.

How long is a wedding ceremony? The average ceremony is about 20 minutes, the more or less mainly depends on your choices. You and your guests will be attentive to the ceremony, not the clock!

Do I have to memorize my vows, or anything? No, you don’t, that’s too much pressure unless you’re a seasoned actor who wants to do so. You will have the questions and vows before the ceremony so you can practice and live out your promises. If you are reading a poem I’ll coach you to be able to see the words and look at your partner.

Can I get a copy of my ceremony? A printed copy of your marriage/renewal ceremony is
complementary! Because your ceremony was written with meaningful words that support thriving relationships, I want you to have words to live by. Place a copy of if it or your vows where you can see them as inspiration and revisit your ceremony on your anniversaries as a wonderful memory. Or any day as a
supportive guide! A keepsake of other ceremonies is also possible.

What if you’re already booked or can’t… I’ll try to serve you personally, and/or will refer you to known colleagues and professional services if I’m not available or not a good match for your needs. Having seen many wedding professionals in action and as part of a large network of healing services professionals, I can often make referrals to meet your needs. I accept no commissions for most professional service referrals, I’m just happy to help.

Where are you and HeartAndSoul Matters located? My serene office overlooking the
lake is conveniently located in Briarcliff Manor (central west Westchester County) New York, easily
accessible by car or train. For Wedding clients, a face-to-face meeting in my office with all reference material at hand is ideal. However if necessary, another meeting place or a telephone conference can be arranged. Healing Arts sessions are in my office; home visits are made when necessary.

About the wedding site – can we get married in your space? Yes! I can travel to your venue, recommend one, or I can accommodate small groups at my Briarcliff Manor location, indoors or out by the lake (with fountain!).

So, let’s get started!

HeartAndSoul Matters’ Vision Statement

HeartAndSoul Matters ministers to matters of the heart and soul during times of joy and challenge with quality ceremony preparation, officiating and counsel for meaningful life events and transitions. HeartAndSoul Matters enriches lives by encouraging choices that support optimal health for body, mind and spirit and living consciously and more fully alive during times of celebration or challenge. It facilitates healing and enhancement for individuals and partnerships that build thriving relationships and community based on good will and intentional loving.
HeartAndSoul Matters and Rev. Janice Arlene Rost aspire to living mindfully, loving and fully alive in peaceful co-existence with our natural environment.

“People are opportunities. The gift is in the interaction and the connection with another person, whether it lasts forever or not.” Colleen Seifert - Open Heart Seminars

My Philosophy…I feel people are an opportunity and a gift to respected. I’m intrigued with how we think and feel and relate – alone and together. I believe the vital work we human beings have is about how we contribute actively and energetically towards the peaceful co-existence most of us want. For those of us consciously on our journey towards happiness, wholeness, freedom and peace, we know it begins within then projects outward – how we think, feel, act and live really does matter. All matter strives to maintain balance. With all w e do in our busy lives on this ever-changing planet, seeking and maintaining healthy balance in body, mind and spirit can seem a monumental, challenging task. And yet, it is an essential endeavor for and with our selves, the whole family of humankind, and all creation.

To be a balanced person living with a sense of well-being calls for respect, acceptance, good will, patience and unconditional love. We already have choice, what we need is courage, commitment and better transformative ‘tools’; we can learn more about mindful loving and use the skills of intentional loving with our self and in all our relationships. We can strive for feeling good – every creature wants that – or for optimal and thriving – it’s our choice.

Creating ceremony and ritual is an opportunity for me to serve people during significant life events. Of course, the most joyous and most frequently created ceremonies are for weddings and baby blessings. To be present for any type of ceremony requires me to play a key role as a person’s life transitions, as one door closes and sometimes, before the next one opens. It can be a time mixed emotions, of choices; a time of being in the unknown – is is always a time to be honored.

I regard therapy/counsel as a gift to our self and to all our relationships. It brings light into the soul and to the world. I believe that we can all learn more about how to give and receive good will and love; that we all face challenges that are really opportunities to learn and grow. I support choices that nurture us to live fully alive, alone and in partnership. I consider it a privilege to walk beside you during the joyous times, as well as the most challenging of your life. I’ll listen deeply to your pain and struggles; I’ll celebrate you in your success and joy. I’ll offer supportive techniques and ceremonies that progress you along your journey. With caring support and wise guidance we can courageously surrender fears and embrace our strengths, hopes, vulnerabilities and brokenness. As we break walls and build bridges, we learn to recognize and respect our common human-ness. And from this foundational experience, we can move forward towards our goals and create collaborative partnerships that become positive role models in the art of relationship. This is what I strive for, within and around me. Do you?

I believe that When Heart and Soul Matters, all things are possible.

Weddings:

“Thank you Janice for the lovely ceremony you performed for us on such short notice. You were so awesome. Our family was happy with the ceremony and enjoyed having it in your lovely home. Thank you for everything. Our deepest gratitude.” Maria and Victor, Bronx, NY

“I’m still floating on air, and I can’t thank you enough for your participation in our wedding. Your ‘words’ made everything feel just so right, so heartfelt, so candid and special-to everyone present. Like I told you at the start of that morning, you are a most beautiful soul and I feel absolutely privileged for having met you. I plan on staying in-touch, and I’d recommend you to any couple in a heartbeat.” Marianne, from Yonkers, NY

”I did want to express to you the gratitude and fulfillment Jen and I felt hiring you to facilitate our ceremony. First, we gained tremendous understanding for each other following our couple’s process session with you. The introspective work was helpful to better understand our personal motivations and fears and how those help and hurt the other. Likewise, the ceremony was exactly how we envisioned it, from the perfect setting to the heartfelt words. We were grateful to develop a relationship with you and to know our wedding day would meet all our expectations and more. Our guests continue to express that this was the most thoughtful wedding they had ever been to. Thank you for your passion, kindness and support throughout the entire process.
Best,” Matt and Jen, NYC

“Hi Janice, …I see many weddings, but this was such a special one since Gaby and Jim’s intimate ceremony was personally written and therefore so meaningful. I really respect the way you spoke and read the ceremony as I tell the brides and grooms who come to see me how important it is for friends and family to be the witness to vows of commitment. Sometimes they are so caught up in the huge plans, (probably thought about since childhood) that they can forget the why of it all. Perhaps because I’ve spent so much time in 3rd world countries, photographed wars, refugee camps and all kinds of other stories, I can get a grip on the joy and the meaning of the ceremony as well as the fun of the party…Much regards, TRIX” TRIX ROSEN, Photojournalist 212 228-8100 Trix@TrixRosen.com www.Trixrosen.com

“Dear Janice, words cannot express the gratitude we have for finding you. Your guidance and sincerity helped us to understand the importance of being a couple and how to maintain our needs to keep a marriage sacred. Not only that, but as a family we treasure. Everyone loved our ceremony and will remember it always. Thanks to you it was beautiful ceremony. Love to you always, Jimmy and Stacey” Pleasantville, NY

Dear Janice, …Thank you for the lovely, warm wedding ceremony you performed for Greg and Kristine on October 2nd. It certainly was the highlight of their day as they shared with me at brunch the next day. There certainly has been a great amount of personal growth in each of them and I believe the meaningful words of the ceremony will provide them with much more. So many people commented to me how wonderful the words of the ceremony were. Thank you, Janice, for all you did in creating a beautiful wedding ceremony. It was most enjoyable being with you at dinner as well.Your truly, Kathi, Mother of Groom

“…We have the ceremony, and we love it. The more elaborate questions and revised vows now include everything that we want to express on that day, and we couldn’t be happier with the wording. Thank you for taking the time to work through all of that with us. Your patience and support made that process possible.” Peggy and Neil, Brooklyn, NY

“Reverend Rost, we are very excited to meet you and were so pleased with our conversation last week. You are the perfect person to untie us as man and wife! Regards, Nicole” (and Michael), NYC

“Dear Janice: Just a note to thank you from the heart for the beautiful way in which Gabriella and Jim’s ceremony was performed. You captured what they really are about and I know that everyone who witnessed the ceremony will take your words and their import with them for a long time to come. Would it be possible for you to email the ceremony? I would very much like to send it along to my Mother and Brothers. Thank you again. Anne B (Jim’s Mom) Please feel free to quote me. I can’t tell you how many others who were at the ceremony said the very same thing! We have been blessed. Thank you again. Sincerely, Anne B”

“Dear Janice, Thank you so much for working with us, nurturing our feelings towards each other into vows and helping us to express it on such an important day in our lives! Fondly, Maureen and Billy”

“Dear Janice, It was such a pleasure meeting you this past Sunday. Erika and I really enjoyed our conversation and thank you for helping clarify the logistics and content of our wedding ceremony. Your ability to create an atmosphere where we both felt comfortable sharing our feelings is a credit to you and your work. We look forward to having you celebrate our wedding on September 14…We look forward to reviewing the various proposed ceremonies and discussing how we can tailor one to fit our personalities and desires. Thanks again! Kind regards, Cory”

“it was every bit as wonderful as we’d dreamed it could be. Thank you so much for your presence and spirit and love at our wedding this past June. It was clear to us form our first contact with you that the Universe sent you to us and us to you. A way opened for us to be married with you as our Guide; the seeming obstacles beforehand were a gift in disguise that led us to you. The ceremony that you co-created with us and shared with our loved ones was absolutely beautiful. Several guests told us it was the most meaningful and heartfelt wedding ceremony they had ever attended. With your help, we were able to create a ceremony that reflected our relationships, to each other and to our loved ones, and expressed what was in our heats and our commitments for the future. We could not have asked for a more graceful and mindful delivery and expression of this creation than you provided. Your presence was powerful and grounding. Thank you, from our hearts, for that gift…We do not yet know when we can be in your area again to meet with you for a post-wedding session. We will look forward to that special time, whenever it is to be. With gratitude and affection, JoAnn and Chip” Pennington, NJ

“Dear Janice, Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful service at our wedding. We’ve received so many compliments on our beautiful ceremony – you certainly would receive our highest recommendations! Sincerely, Laura and Al”

“Dear Reverend Janice, We felt very comfortable with you after our initial telephone conversation. Our first meeting was even better. You made us both feel very relaxed in your presence. Your input with the ceremony was more than I could have ever imagined. It was so much fun for us to help create it as a couple. I don’t think we would have thought of doing that had you not introduced us to the idea. I must admit that I didn’t think we needed pre-marital counseling, but you have helped us to learn even more about ourselves and each other. This can only help us in the path we have chosen together. We are so looking forward to our wedding day and sharing it with you. Reverend Janice, you will always be in our thoughts and our prayers. We truly appreciate all that you have done for us. May God bless you always, Michelle & Albe”

“Dearest Reverend Janice, Walter and I wanted to thank you for this afternoon. Not only did you make us feel comfortable and at ease but you went out of your way for our children. We received so much from speaking and sharing with you and we took everything that was said to heart and made it matter. Especially us opening ourselves up to so many possibilities. We are confident and committed to creating a marriage in and with love and trust. We truly appreciate the honesty and guidance that you extended to us and are looking forward to lifetime of rewards through the help that you gave us to understanding. Walter and I took this evening for only us and had a wonderful time. So many times Walter had told me in the past that I am mysterious, and today I found myself sharing with him some of the more difficult moments in my life that he never knew. I think that he appreciated in knowing where I had been in order to understand where I am today. Knowing who you are totally depends on knowing who you are not. This is the way that we feel that we can glorify ourselves and God. Again, we want to thank you for the guidance and the gentle touch that you gave us today. We hope all the best for a truly blessed new year rich with all the gifts that you have given to others. Our heartfelt thanks, Maria, Walter, Janina and Sara”

“Hi Rev. Janice…Thank you so much for putting this together for us. After reading it, I felt reflective on the life I have had with Walter so far and excited and looking forward to the future with him…Thanks again for all your time and mostly kind words or support. Love and Peace, Maria”

“What a beautiful ceremony! Thank you so much for making our most special day a dream come true…the memories will live forever in our hearts! Thank you so very much, Keith and Wendy” Hopewell Junction, NY

“Our ceremony was beautiful and meaningful because of all the inspiration you gave and because of your spirit in presenting the ceremony. Thank you.”
Deborah & Michael, Highland Falls, NY

“Dennis and I want to thank you for making our wedding so incredibly beautiful. The service was exactly what we wanted. It was very personal, in that it depicted who we are, how our relationship has evolved, and what marriage means to us. You did a terrific job of tying it all together and presenting it beautifully. Our guests commented on your service and I’m sure you will be recommended by all of us! We can’t wait to see the video back so that we can hear the vows all over again! Thank you so much, Sandy and Dennis” Pt. Chester, NY

I felt so reassured after our visit. It is an honor and a pleasure to have you perform my ceremony. Leesa” Peekskill, NY

Our sincerest thanks to you for supporting our new life together with such openness and appreciation. One of our biggest wedding hurdles was overcome only through your willingness to help us express our vows in our own words, not someone else’s. the result was evidently clear in the room November 6, 1993, but is equally clear today as we re-read the beautiful rendition of our ceremony you sent. We have not yet done a commemorative photo album or scrapbook, and I’d love to make your work a centerpiece. For always, you brought beauty into our lives and memories into our hearts to last a lifetime. Best wishes, Ginny and Gene”, Nelsonville, NY

“Thank you” are just two small words that don’t quite do the justice of how grateful we are to you for performing our ceremony. It was perfect and people are still telling us how powerful and wonderful you were. We both thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God bless you, Scott and Doris” W. Hempstead, NY

We had an overwhelming positive response from our family and friends on the lovely ceremony you performed. Thank you for making our ceremony so meaningful. It meant so much to the both of us. Love, Albert and Dana” Mt. Vernon, NY

“…We wanted to thank you for a lovely ceremony. You made us feel special and comfortable. Thank you, Dawn and Mike” Brewster, NY

“…Greg and I just wanted to thank you so very much for such a wonderful ceremony – it was as beautiful as I imagined it to be. I felt Gregory and I and of course you, were the only three in the room.
“My first healing session with Janice was miraculous…She turned my life around to where the true me has surfaced.” Mendy, Montreal Canada

“…I made more progress with Janice than in all the years with my psychotherapist…. I tried everything…chronic shoulder pain disappeared within a few sessions.” Laura, Katonah, NY

“Hi Janice, Just wanted to touch base with you and thank you so much for all your time and care on Labor Day weekend. It helped so much to be able to talk to you! You are a compassionate, loving, strong presence. You gave me room to go where I needed to go to open up the feelings that were buried under the surface. I’m feeling better since then, have been getting in touch with some of my anger, which has been a big help. I think assertiveness and self-esteem is really blocked when the pathway to anger is blocked. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to work with you; I found it very healing. I’m sending you lots of love! In gratitude,” MR (a medical doctor)

“I had one impromptu session with Janice several months ago. Prior to initiating the craniosacral work, I discussed with her my digestive problems that I’ve been suffering from for many years, trying many different things without relief. She gave me dietary advice that I have followed since and has been THE FIRST thing ever to make a difference. I am forever grateful to her for this, she has a great repository of knowledge regarding healthy lifestyle. The craniosacral session was very powerful as well. I would recommend Janice to anyone without hesitation. She combines knowledge and skill, and takes the time and energy to really see how best to help the client.” M. from NYC

“Janice Rost is an excellent care provider for those in need bringing to her clients holistic and alternative experience. Her healing touch and gentle ways create an atmosphere that assists the healing process. Whether it is hospital care or home health care that is required, she brings years of expertise to the situation. For those suffering from nutritional difficulties, product allergies and rare energy deficiencies, she has the wherewithal to advise wisely.
Speaking from personal experience, I recommend Janice especially for her excellent energy field therapies and workmanship. During periods of extreme stress and physical pain, her presence helped to alleviate much of the obvious discomforts. Healing hands and warmth of heart are her trademarks and a strong indication of the gentle spirit that lives within Janice.”

“Rev. Rost’s personal involvement, meticulous work, and most of all her wisdom and knowledge in creating a beautiful wedding ceremony.” Naomi and Steve, Brooklyn, NY
