Wedding, Commitment & Renewal Services

“I’m still floating on air, and I can’t thank you enough for your participation in our wedding. Your ‘words’ made everything feel just so right, so heartfelt, so candid and special-to everyone present. Like I told you at the start of that morning, you are a most beautiful soul and I feel absolutely privileged for having met you. I plan on staying in-touch, and I’d recommend you to any couple in a heartbeat.” Marianne, from Yonkers, NY

Wedding Ceremony Options & Preparation

“…We have the ceremony, and we love it. The more elaborate questions and revised vows now include everything that we want to express on that day, and we couldn’t be happier with the wording. Thank you for taking the time to work through all of that with us. Your patience and support made that process possible.” Peggy and Neil, Brooklyn, NY

How do I Choose my Officiant?

How do I Choose my Officiant?

How do I choose my Officiant??? When I started this joy filled service of uniting couples in 1990, there was a small number of Interfaith or other ministers who would say yes to couples regardless of faith, non-faith, race, sex, etc. Now, there are many vendors in the wedding business. Freedom of choice is sacred and also can be confusing, making it difficult to know what/who you will get, especially when most couples have never hired a wedding vendor before, even for a second marriage! Some couples only care about the paper to make it official or only about the party afterwards; if so, that makes your choice easier. You’ll hire someone who gets the job done with a few standard words. Many couples seek a wedding Officiant who will help them create their dream wedding which includes a ceremony that is personal, romantic, beautifully crafted and delivered. For a ceremony that does all this as it unites them in marriage, they will search out information and carefully select. With a variety of vendors to choose from, there’s a variety of service style, offerings, quality, personality, etc. It takes more than a license to be considered a quality professional in any field. Here’s some information to consider about people who perform wedding ceremonies… Officiants have different preparation, talent, motivation, and experience. Some have extensive training, many have superficial training and others may get a license for the day. (Do you know it’s possible to get licensed to officiate a marriage on the internet or by attending a weekend workshop focused other than officiating?) Some of the qualities I look for in choosing a professional are: individuals and companies with integrity – that are experienced, personable, reliable and highly skilled in what they offer. To find a good match I like to talk to them and consider  personality, style, inclusivity, ceremony choices and personalization, preparation, delivery, time for me, fee, etc. Referrals can be helpful, and yet I still need to make an effort to see if they are right for me. We can do our best to obtain information and use head, heart and intuition to make the best choice. Since you don’t have the comparison experience as you do with many other purchases in you life, and since you really won’t be able to fully judge until after the ceremony, this selection process can be daunting. However, please be reassured to know that with almost professional Officiant you choose, you will probably be satisfied with what you get. And you’ll be married! Why Choose Rev. Janice? What you get is quality service and reasonable rates! My distinctive process of ceremony creation offers you a superior selection of meaningful appropriate reference, giving you a variety of choices for the entire ceremony, and therefore, more personalization. In addition, you and your fiancé get invaluable experience, support and quality time together, discovering what matters most to your heart and soul. Since you’ve been drawn to my site and taken the time to read this far before you choose an Officiant, I believe you really do care about the ceremony that unites you and your partner in marriage, and also about your celebrant. Here’s what I’d like you to know about me… I am a professional and I really do care – about you and your wedding day. And, I believe with you, that you can have your special day be joy filled and memorable! I’ll give you my time and experience. With it, you’ll learn more than you imagined about yourself, your partner, and your relationship as well as about the before, during...

Heartfelt Ceremonial Services

Ceremonial Services for All Life’s Cycles, Occasions and Transitions… A ceremony or ritual marks an occasion as significant and grounds it so it becomes real and memorable. There are specific actions and objects, real and symbolic, which are meaningful towards intention of the ceremony. And, there’s that magical or spiritual component of a ceremony and the celebrant that instills within us acceptance of the change, the reality that we’ve taken a step across a threshold into a “new” you, in a new phase of life. Attention to details in setting, words, symbols, logistics, etc are important components of a well crafted ceremony/ritual. Its purpose is to achieve its intention, transporting you in mind and spirit, to your goal, your vision. Connection and felt emotions are signs of a good ceremony; it stimulates emotions appropriate to the service, from happy to sad, and also creates a stronger connection among the participants and witnesses. I feel blessed to be a ceremonial artist gifted with all the skills and experience needed to make ceremony and ritual a meaningful, memorable event for you and your guests. Naomi and Steve’s Story

Naomi and Steve’s Story

“…By the time Steve and I decided to get married, we had been a couple for 7 years. So, we just wanted to tie the knot so to speak, without the big production wedding that would delay our wedding date for yet another year. We set the date to be my late mother’s birthday, July 1st, which was only 3 or 4 weeks away. At first, I was ready to sign papers at the court house, but Steve wanted to have a little ceremony with his family and friends. That is when I thought of Reverend Rost, the inter-faith, non-denominational minister, who married my sister, Stefanie and Paul just 6 months before. I recalled their simple, yet elegant ceremony, and wanted ours to be that way, too. Steve and I contacted Rev. Rost, and explained to her our situation and the time constraints. Luckily for us, she agreed, and was willing to work with us even though she was already busy with other wedding ceremonies. Rev. Rost invited us…to do the prenuptial marriage counseling. When asked if we wanted to do a 1 1/2 session or a 3 hour session, we decided on the latter because we wanted to get as much out of the therapy as possible. It turned out to be the right choice…The therapy session, I noticed that Rev. Rost had a very peaceful way about her. Although, I was a bit nervous with the wedding on my mind, she put me at ease with her calm, yet friendly nature. The whole therapy session lasted 4 1/2 hours, but we enjoyed it so much that we didn’t notice how long it was lasting. However, even at this time, Rev. Rost did not rush us out. Rather, she was very generous with her time and made it obvious that it was more important for her to know that we were satisfied with the therapy session. Steve and I are very grateful for this, because we both felt that we bonded in such a way that we had not experienced in all the years that we’ve known each other. The extended therapy session enabled us to become more emotionally ready for our marriage. Steve and I feel that we made the right choice by having Rev. Rost as our minister in marriage…We are eternally grateful for Rev. Rost’s personal involvement, meticulous work, and most of all her wisdom and knowledge in creating a beautiful wedding ceremony. …I have already recommended Rev. Rost to a friend who is getting married next year…” Naomi and Steve, Brooklyn,...
